Township government got its start in North America in 1636 and is the oldest form of government on the North American continent. In Illinois, township government held its first elections a century and a half ago after its creation by the constitution in 1848.
Danvers Township is one of the 30 townships in McLean County. It covers 41.5 square miles through primarily agricultural northwest McLean County. As of the 2010 census, the population was 1925.
Danvers Township Mission Statement
It is the mission of Danvers Township to maintain a sense of community; to serve its citizens with courtesy, integrity, and fiscal responsibility, and to provide the highest level of service that will help to maintain and improve the overall manner in which our citizens live, work, and play.
The Danvers Board of Trustees meets in a regularly scheduled board meeting on the first Tuesday of every month unless the first Tuesday is on the 1st day of the month or a holiday in these cases the Board meetings will be on the second Tuesday of the month at the Danvers Township Community Room at 898 N West St. All meetings are scheduled to begin at 8:00 p.m. The public is welcome and encouraged to attend.
